20. Glass Art
Why throw away your empty wine bottles when you can transform them into marvelous and practical DIY creations that will amaze everyone? Glass can be an extremely elegant material -if shaped correctly- that can be used to make all sorts of things that can make your life easier and your house cozier! In this slideshow you’ll find how to use empty wine bottles to make things like: a transparent planter and serving plate! Do you have an empty wall or do you fancy something more unique than just a curtain for your window? Why not trying glass art? Cut the bottom of a bottle, smooth it out and hot-glue it into a canvas. Then you’re free to experiment with any shape and color that you desire. Be creative and once you get good with cutting glass, you’ll be able to experiment even further! 19. Cloche Bell Like Votive Candles
Take some bottles and cut their top off, to create cloche bell like votive candles but with the advantage that the hole at the top, will let the oxygen flow so the candle will burn for more time. Also, by the time the candle starts to melt, you can tilt it to the sides to create a very cool gradient effect. Pretty inexpensive too! Did you know that you can make a very practical and quite inexpensive bird feeder from a used bottle?
18. Bird Feeder
For this one, you’ll need a colorful glass bottle, copper wire, hot-glue and feeding tubes. Also, don’t forget the birds! It’s fairly simple, hot-glue the wire onto the glass so you can hang it and then fill the bottle up with fresh water. Then assemble it all together and hang it in your garden. The birds will surely appreciate it!
17. Post-Apocalyptic Lamp
This is one is surely inspired by a zombie movie! It may require some craftsmanship and tools you may not have in handy but if you have the time the result will be extremely rewarding. The construction requires putting together a valve, some metallic tubes and a couple of empty bottles at the end of each tube. The color of the bottles will act like a light filter that will give a smooth, earthy lighting in your room or garden. If you’re good with electronics, you can make the valve act like a switch too! 16. Glass & Metal Sculpture
Glass and metal seem to blend very well together in art and this sculpture is a brilliant example of this. You can create this sculpture by putting keys that no longer serve a purpose in the bottle creating this cool effect. Okay, let’s be clear, it will be hard to find so many useless keys so we suggest that you buy some cheap ones from the internet! Check out how to make a transparent bottle planter in the next slide!
15. Transparent Bottle Planter
Make a simple cut at a wine bottle and then you can make a self-watering and elegant planter. It’ll also be transparent so you’ll be able to observe the roots grow and search for water. 14. Bicycle Rim Chandelier
Want to make an upgrade for your bar or living room? Find an old bicycle rim and get down to work. You’ll need a fair amount of empty glass bottles, hot-glue and of course the bicycle rim. Glue all the bottles on the rim and then put some remote, flameless, LED candles in the bottles. Hang it up and enjoy your alternative chandelier! 13. Christmas Bottle
If the idea of the Christmas tree sounds too plain for you then you need to consider this. Try finding one of these giant bottles -preferably green- that liquor stores offer, empty it and the put Christmas lights in it. Voila! Now you have your own giant Christmas bottle! If you don’t like the idea of replacing the Christmas tree with this one, you can try making smaller ones!
12. Glass Flowerpot
Why buy plain flowerpots when you can create this with used wine bottles? Cut a wine bottle in half and smooth it out while keeping it sealed on the top. Then you’ll have a very elegant looking flowerpot to plant your favorite flowers inside of it! Be creative and impress everyone with this unique piece of decoration!
11. Dramatic Creepy Candles
Find some long white candles and put them in some used champagne bottles that you’ve painted pitch black. In this way, as the candles are melting they’ll create a quite dramatic and creepy effect on the outside of the bottle. Also in the dark it’ll appear like the candle is melting on the air!
10. Serving Plates
Who woulldn’t want this! Instead of using plain and boring serving plates you can impress your visitors by applying excessive heat to the side of a used wine bottle and creating a very fancy serving plate. As the glass is melting, it’ll create a “nest” that will definitely save up some space in your festive table!
9. Colorful Glass Tree
Find an old metal rod and some empty bottles of every shape and color. Then and use it to create this glass tree to decorate your garden or even your interiors. This requires some difficult welding but if you get help this can be quite easy. Just be sure to find many colorful bottles!
8. Dinner Lamp
If you want a more fancy lamp for your dinner table, then get down to work. Find a large piece of good looking wood mount on it bottles that you’ve already cut the bottoms of. Then drill some holes and place light bulbs in the bottles. A great way to have some filtered, restaurant-like lighting for your dinner table.
7. Climbing Plant
Use copper wire to tie some wine bottles together into a long structure that you can hang from the ceiling or even hot-glue it onto it! Plant some flowers inside the bottles and enjoy your very own climbing plant!
6. Glass Planter
Did you know that you can make a DIY glass planter that will keep your batches of seeds safe at the beginning of the spring? Just cut the bottom of a bottle and smooth it out, Then fill it up with soil and plant your seeds. It’s also a bit transparent so you can supervise the whole process!
5. Christmas Chandelier
While waiting for Christmas you can try making a smaller version of this enormous DIY chandelier. You can use red bottles as the original and hang them from the ceiling but be sure to let some space to fit while LEDs that will be the source of the light.
