It really does not matter how old we are – we all love balloons! But have you ever thought that they’re also great when you want to get crafty? We just discovered a few do it yourself projects that are fun to make and really make for great decorations! Let’s check them out and find out how we can make them at home with only a few materials and minutes of our time.

If you’re throwing a party, why not make it fruit themed? It’s bright, colorful, and a good reason to make healthy treats. All you need to do for decorations is get some balloons and make them look like fruits. And that’s not all! You can even use them as part of the games. Here’s the next great idea…
19. Make Your Own Fruits
As part of the fruit themed party, you can divide kids into two groups, give them balloons, paper cut leaves, and some thread and ask them to make fruits with those balloons. The group with more fruits wins the game.

18. Pendant Lamps
If you love to make do it yourself projects, then you should give this one a chance. It’s the best idea that will also decorate your house and make it luxe! Get some hemp string roll and wrap it around an inflated balloon in different angles. Glue the rope and let it firm up before you pop the balloon. Make several more to create a stunning effect!
17. Chocolate Bowls
We love chocolate, and we also love to throw parties. A great party should have a centerpiece, so why not make it out of chocolate? You just blow up a balloon or several more – this is where the family can help you out. Then melt the chocolate and get creative… Here’s the next step.
16. Pour or Insert the Balloon
You can try different methods here. You will need to let the chocolate cool and then pour it over the bottom half or just insert the balloon into the chocolate. Let the chocolate totally cool, add it in the fridge and then decorate it with whatever you want. You can even use different types of chocolate.
15. Ninja Balls
Be the best mom ever for your kids’ parties and make a DIY table, teaching kids how to create their own ninja balls. They’re fun to play with and you can squeeze and shape them as you please. You will need some balloons, baggies and flour. These are also great as party favors and gifts, and it will only take about 5 minutes to make one!
14. A Great Centerpiece
You’re preparing for a wedding or you want to wow everyone at a dinner party at home. You can make a great ceiling decoration, centerpiece or wall decoration similar to the pendant lamps. It requires the same steps, but instead of using rope, you can use thread or yarn and spray fabric stiffener on it. Add flowers, sequins or other embellishments as a personal touch.
13. Save the Date!
A perfect way to create thank you cards, birthday cards, bridal shower, baby shower invites, Save the Date cards and many others, is to use balloons, Sharpies and a sheet of paper. Print a sheet of paper with a pattern, inflate a balloon, write on it and let it dry. Use Sharpie Oil Paint Pen so it won’t smudge! Deflate and attach to the paper with twine!
12. Candle Holder
You can make a candle holder or a key holder with a balloon, some old crochet dollies and wallpaper glue. Soak the doilies in the glue and place them on the inflated balloon. Let the dry for about a day and pop the balloon. Now you have a beautiful holder for anything you want!
11. String Egg For Easter
A great way to make Easter decorations is to have some balloons and wrap twine around it. Glue it, use some hair fixative and cut a hole to make room for Easter grass, a chocolate bunny or whatever you want. This cute home is perfect to hang on the front porch. You can also cut it differently and make a basket.
10. Marshmallow Shooters
The best game at a kids’ party is the marshmallow shooters. You will need some cake pop containers or plastic cups, balloons and marshmallow as ammo! Of course, if you encounter energetic shooters, add a rubber band over the balloon so it won’t slip.
9. Dinosaur Egg Discovery
Kids will have a blast when they see this amazing dinosaur egg. It’s very easy to make – but you will need to prepare these a day before, so that the water in the balloon completely freezes. You will need balloons, small plastic dinosaurs and some food dye to make things interesting.
8. Find the Dinosaur!
The kids will need some safety goggles and a hammer to smash their way to the toy. Insert the dinosaur in the balloon, fill it with water and add some drops of food coloring. Let them freeze overnight and then pull the balloon off.
Now let’s make a pair of flip flops!
7. Water Balloon Flip Flops
You will only need water balloons and flip-flops. This pair of flip flops have been decorated with about 160 balloons! All you need to do is have stacks of four balloons, tie them with another one while also using it to tie that stack to the flip-flops. You can use the same technique to make a matching hair band.
6. Beehive
Before you start this project, make sure you have your kid around and the materials at hand. This short tutorial will teach you how to make a beehive out of paper mache and a balloon. Basically, you’ll need paper, glue and water that you mix into a paste and place it on the balloon. Cover the balloon in one coat and then the next one the second day…
5. A Great Halloween Prop
Add the second layer and wait for it to be dry then pop the balloon. Paint it yellow and add some bumblebees made from black, yellow and white pipe cleaners. This is the perfect prop for a Bee Halloween costume for kids!

You can make your own unique button bowl by using all the odd buttons you have in your house, mod podge, glue, and a balloon. As soon as you finish it, you will see that the button bowl will be a great addition to your home décor.

An epic balloon party needs epic balloon fights! Get some balloons of different colors, shapes, and sizes, fill them with water and let them float in the pool. Whoever feels more adventurous can jump in the pool, pick a bunch of them and throw them at the guests!
