Undoubtedly, the past few years marked one of the most challenging periods for many of us in recent history. We endured a global pandemic, a stock market crash, the emergence of murder hornets, devastating wildfires, and the tragic loss of Kobe Bryant, among many other tragedies.

It has been so overwhelming that it may seem impossible for things to deteriorate further. However, the famous French seer Nostradamus suggests otherwise, warning of potential disasters looming in the near future. Prepare yourself as we explore the disturbing Nostradamus predictions that lie ahead…

Who Is Nostradamus?

After all the horrors we’ve faced in the past few years, it becomes difficult to fathom that the future could hold a comparable, or even worse, fate. However, Nostradamus’s prophecies hint at a grim and foreboding future.

Before delving into the unsettling details of these predictions, let us take a moment to acquaint ourselves with the infamous figure behind these intriguing prophecies.

Born in 1503 in the Kingdom of France, Michel de Nostredame, commonly known as Nostradamus, initially pursued a career as an apothecary. However, his ambitions led him to join the University of Montpellier, with hopes of obtaining a doctorate.

Unfortunately, his past involvement as an apothecary was discovered, resulting in his swift expulsion, as it was a forbidden trade according to the university’s rules.

In 1531, Nostradamus tied the knot, but things took a tragic turn when his wife and two children fell victim to the plague. Despite his grief, he kept at his apothecary job but found himself increasingly drawn to the mysterious world of the occult.

Fast forward to 1550, and Nostradamus struck gold with the release of an almanac that perfectly hit the trend of the time. The success pumped him up, and he kept publishing more almanacs while also diving into the role of an astrologer for wealthy clients.

Cryptic Language

Afterward, Nostradamus took on a remarkable task – crafting a book of one thousand quatrains, a unique kind of poem that defines his fame today. He named this collection “Les Prophéties” and released it in 1555, featuring 942 quatrains.

Drawing from literary and historical sources, these verses have intrigued countless believers who argue they have eerily foretold future events. Depending on how you interpret them, over 70 percent of his predictions are said to have already come true.

Criticism

In fear of facing persecution from religious authorities, Nostradamus employed a clever strategy to write his quatrains. To conceal their true meanings, he used language and terminology that did not even exist during his time.

Nostradamus ingeniously baffled his peers through strategic writing while also leaving clues for future generations.

Writing Predictions

“Les Prophéties” received mixed criticism with some considering Nostradamus a fraud, even speculating about his involvement with the Devil. On the other hand, many hailed the book as a brilliant masterpiece.

Notably, Catherine de’ Medici, the wife of King Henry II of France, emerged as one of his ardent admirers. She was so impressed by the work that she bestowed upon him the title of Counselor and Physician-in-Ordinary to her son, the future King Charles IX of France.

The Predictions That Came True

Nostradamus formulated his predictions through the practice of judicial astrology, which involved forecasting events based on the positioning and interactions of celestial bodies in relation to the Earth.

However, his approach drew criticism from professional astrologers of his era, who deemed him incompetent.

By now, you might be eager to know which of Nostradamus’s predictions have stood the test of time and actually come true. Admittedly, considering their age, many prophecies remain open to interpretation.

Nevertheless, it’s safe to say that most of his prophecies have retained their eerie relevance even after hundreds of years.

Princess Diana’s Fate

King Henry II of France was a close, personal acquaintance of Nostradamus, so imagine his surprise when Nostradamus pulled information about his tragic death from the ethers. The King, being a passionate fan of jousting, met his maker after a splintering lance sent debris into his eye and skull.

Ironically, Nostradamus had once referred to the king as “The most invincible Henry King of France.” Future information must not have been accessible until much later, when the leader met his untimely death at the hands of one of his own soldiers.

The Great Fire Of London

Despite being one day short of an accurate timeline, Nostradamus predicted nearly everything else about Princess Diana’s untimely passing at the hands of out-of-control paparazzi who were chasing her and boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed through the Parisian tunnel system. It was a losing battle from the beginning.

From citing the “penultimate son of the man with the Prophet’s name” to making mention of Diana’s name, supporters of Nostradamus cite that this is one of his more accurate predictions to date.

Nuclear War On Hiroshima and Nagasaki

The quatrain detailing the London fire is perhaps one of the most perplexing of all of Nostradamus’ writings, for it even seems to cite the year in which this event took place. “Twenty threes the six” is interpreted by many as the year 1666, when fire swept through the ancient lady, threatening all who lived there.

Though some scholars cite that the fire started via lightning strike, other tales suggest that the disaster took place because of a wayward flame in a bakery. With 89 churches, over 13,000 houses, and most of the city destroyed, one amazing fact surrounding this fire was that only six people perished.

John F. Kennedy’s Assassination

With pictures of “famine within a plague” and reference to two cities experiencing destruction “the likes of which was never seen before,” it seems that Nostradamus’ prediction of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II was accurate.

In August of 1945, the United States dropped two of the most destructive weapons imaginable on Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bringing Nostradamus’ prediction to pass. Hundreds of thousands perished in the blasts, and disastrous effects could be felt for years after the attack.

The Rise of Adolf Hitler

U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s assassination was a tragic and pivotal moment in 20th Century history, so it’s no surprise that historians should turn to Les Propheties for a bit of insight into the event. We are told that “a dead innocent will be accused of the deed,” perhaps referring to presumed assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, who was shot while under arrest for the crime.

Perhaps even more shocking about this predicted assassination was the connection to President Kennedy’s brother, Robert Kennedy. In keeping with what seems to be a Kennedy family curse, tragedy struck again when Robert was assassinated shortly after delivering a victory speech for the California primaries in 1968.

Napoleon’s Career

Nostradamus achieved astonishing accuracy in predicting several events that unfolded in the twentieth century, including the rise of Adolf Hitler.

In one specific quatrain, he writes, “From the depths of the West of Europe, a young child will be born of poor people,” and goes on to describe how this individual will “seduce a great troop” with his persuasive speech. Notably, Nostradamus even refers to him as “Hister.”

Louis Pasteur and His Work

A little word play took place in Nostradamus’s quatrain involving Napoleon Bonaparte. Three towns imprisoned by Bonaparte spell out his name as “Napaulon Roy” in French, referring to the pint-sized yet powerful general.

Was Napoleon one of the three antichrists that Nostradamus predicted would rise? He plunged his little corner of the world into chaos, that’s for sure. Perhaps Nostradamus was picking up on strong personality and even stronger ego.

King Philip’s Reign of Spain

Despite all his work and discoveries surrounding microbial decay, what would have been a celebrated career for Louis Pasteur ended in dishonor after an article in the New York Times cited that he gave a misleading account of scientific work on the anthrax vaccine. Nostradamus was startingly accurate on this one.

The father of Biogenesis can be credited with years of research on bacteria and living organisms that contribute to health and disease. Nostradamus saw the disgrace of Pasteur at the height of his success, citing that “rumors of theft would dishonor the scientist.”

Charles De Gaulle’s Leadership in France

The reign in Spain was prosperous when King Philip took the throne, until a young onion thwarted his efforts to set up a successful empire. Nostradamus actually cited the “young onion” in his quatrain detailing the rise and fall of the monarch.

The onion turned out to be Henri IV of France, who disagreed vehemently with the King’s allegiance to Catholicism. The two were embroiled in bitter battles on religion and economic affairs until Henri’s death.

The French Revolution

In one of Nostradamus’s most accurate predictions yet, Charles De Gaulle is named as leader of France. His pivotal role in France’s Free French forces made him a formidable force to be reckoned with during World War II.

Nostradamus mentioned the name of this French President in his quatrains, citing that he would be a “three-time leader who would prove to be stronger than Hercules”. De Gaulle went on to fulfill this prophecy, serving France as Prime Minister and President of the Fifth Republic.

World War II

Nostradamus refers to “headless idiots” in his quatrain referencing the French Revolution in 1789. French peasants decided they’d had enough of poor aristocratic rule, and they forced the royal aristocracy from their thrones, locking them in prisons and eventually beheading them.

Nostradamus’s reputation as a master of divining information was further solidified after these events. After the storming of Bastille on July 14, 1789, stunned visitors to the fortress filed past a table containing a copy of “The Centuries,” opened to a page of his predictions penned nearly 200 years earlier.

The Death Of Mother Theresa

Quatrains surrounding the events of the second World War are some of the most interesting and accurate of Nostradamus. From detailed descriptions of air battles to the rise and inevitable fall of Adolf Hitler, we have a very detailed picture of these events.

With hindsight on WWII giving us a clearer picture of where we don’t want to go, many speculate that he has also written events that outline a possible World War III, with many unsavory predictions that don’t have to be realized, should we choose a different outcome.

September 11, 2001

Mother Theresa was an Albanian-born nun and missionary who lived and served the people of India for decades before her death in 1997. Her charitable work has been recognized worldwide, earning her several international awards.

Her death was one of Nostradamus’s more accurate predictions. He referred to her as a “petite royal following the way of a saint”. This small spiritual giant who had taken a vow of poverty started an organization that yielded a net worth of $100 million upon her death.

The Fall of Great Britain

September 11, 2001 is a date that is indelibly etched in the minds of millions. Many look at the quatrain referencing the World Trade Center towers being attacked and collapsing as downright creepy in nature. A combination of fire, accurate angles, and tragedy combine to create one of the most significant tragic events in recent U.S. history.

Scholars are particularly interested in the “forty-five” degrees reference by Nostradamus. Whether that is referring to NYC’s 45-ish latitude location or the 45-degree angle of the broken buildings soon after their collapse, either interpretation still gives pause as to if this tragedy was foreseen.

The Year 2020

Nostradamus did predict the fall of the United Kingdom, beginning with their secession from the European Union. This historic decision of Brexit is significant in that it also affects Ireland, Wales, and Scotland.

Though the timeline is not entirely accurate, there have been rumors that there is dissension in the ranks of Parliament. If secession occurs, the world may need to brace itself for what may be an economic collapse that is felt globally.

China Steps Up As A World Power

According to Nostradamus, 2020 was to be the year when World War III would break out between world powers. Although not entirely accurate, increasing political tensions between world powers today have been certainly heightened.

Unfortunately, this bleak forecast of war is predicted to last for 27 years, once it erupts. Perhaps we can take this prediction to heart and change world events for the better, with the hopes that politicians and government leaders find peace.

Social Unrest In The United States

Nostradamus has long predicted the fall of the Western powers, including that of the United States. In what comes as no surprise to those who are familiar with his prophecies, China seems to be stepping up its economic game.

Many economists theorize that China’s economic strength and success will surpass that of the U.S. by the year 2028. With our political, social, and financial prowess hanging in the balance, perhaps we should focus on peace keeping efforts.

Changes in North Korea

It seems that the current climate of America, there is real economic and social crisis brewing. Social and political unrest, a tone of vitriol between people that align with different parties, and financial crises are real issues happening today.

With gaps between different groups growing wider by the day, the media and online discourse seem to be enlarging and highlighting those gaps. Nostradamus saw this unrest contributing to what would eventually become a third world war.

Cryptocurrency

For decades, the family of Kim Jong-Un has ruled North Korea, using tactics of fear and intimidation to maintain control. Jong-Un took the throne in 2011 after Kim Jong-Il died, carrying on his father’s traditions with as much of a tightfisted grip as his predecessor.

Nostradamus potentially predicted that 2020 would be the year of Jong-Un’s dethronement. The dictator did have a mysterious illness in 2021 that led some to believe that he was dying. Whether Jong-Un’s leaving office would happen at an oppressed people’s hands or Russia playing a part, we have seen some changes taking place in that corner of the world that mirror his predictions.

A Middle East War

It looks like Nostradamus may have even predicted the rise of cryptocurrency. An excerpt from the quatrains was posted and could be referencing the unique financial opportunities that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have unleashed.

The text itself reads, “…a great nation sorely troubled…when a new source of gold and silver is discovered. The copies of gold and silver inflated…at the discovery that all is exhausted and dissipated by the debt.” While there isn’t a specific mention of Elon Musk, Robinhood, or blockchain, the case can be made that it forecasts a cryptocurrency boom.

 Invasions Across Europe

Economic and military experts are very keen to decode the quatrains surrounding a reported conflict that may soon come to the Middle East. Among major powers like Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran, the region is known for its volatility and perpetual conflict.

Could this be the origin of the third war that he insists will occur? These amped up Middle East countries are bound to come our way, as many of them have a rich history of conflict and underlying tension with our government that will eventually need an outlet.

Space Shuttle Challenger

One of Nostradamus’ most common themes is an impending invasion of Europe by “an Islamic alliance of nations” in the 21st Century. Iran and Turkey are most often mentioned, with increasing tension pointing to World War III.

This war between Islam and Christianity is something that he predicted would last almost three decades. With nuclear power hanging in the balance, it’s a bit terrifying to think what this could do to even the largest of cities.

Commercial Space Travel

January 28, 1986 is another date that many Americans remember for tragic reasons. On this day, the space shuttle orbiter Challenger exploded mid-flight while millions of Americans watched in person and across television screens, claiming the lives of six astronauts and one elementary school teacher.

Shortly after the explosion occurred, supporters of Nostradamus circulated claims that one of his quatrains involved a prediction detailing the disastrous event. While critics pointed out that the prediction spoke of nine individuals being on board, other details accurately foretold the astronauts’ fate.

Financial Crisis

From the invention of the telescope to the launch of the first manned space flight to orbit the Earth, humans have always been obsessed with outer space. Humanity has actually accomplished tapping the final frontier in a pretty period of time.

Nostradamus claimed that we’d expand the exploration of space to include regular “Joes,” making it possible for space geeks to fulfill their wildest space fantasies, from eating freeze-dried foods to experiencing anti-gravity. While wealthy men Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, and William Shatner aren’t that average, they’re certainly not astronauts, giving some credence to this prediction.

Drastic Weather

Nostradamus pointed to increasing financial uncertainty in 2020, citing that people across the globe would suffer these changes. As it turns out, he wasn’t far off. Thanks to an economic slump, the fall of the American stock index caused global shock waves.

It seems we aren’t out of the woods yet, either. Many experts have likened what’s to come as being as severe as the economic collapse of 2008. Will our current leader step up and bail us out once more, or will we have to live with the consequences of our actions?

Widespread Wildfires

2020 brought governments around the world significant challenges to overcome. One of the most prevalent was bizarre weather, which many link to climate change, as predicted by Nostradamus. According to predictions, sea levels will rise to almost uncontrolled levels, bringing about additional environmental changes.

Flooding, earthquakes, and increased storm activity were just a few of the natural disasters alluded to in his writings. Nostradamus specifically cited countries such as Japan and India, which would incur tremendous damage and loss of life.

Famine And Disease

Blame it on climate change, weather manipulation, or just plain bad luck, but 2020 was the year for increased wildfire activity across the globe. Nostradamus mentioned countries such as France, Greece, Croatia, and the Netherlands that would be ransacked by flames.

The United States also experienced a record-breaking year of drought, wildfires, and excessive heat that affected the entire country. According to Nostradamus’s predictions, we can brace ourselves for another challenging year as we seek harmony with Mother Nature.

Increasing Solar Storms

Nostradamus had a flair for predicting disaster and death, it seems. Among his many predictions of war, pestilence, and calamity are some sure indicators that famine and disease lie ahead.

The appearance of epidemics and great famines are, according to Nostradamus, the beginning of the end. How and when will the “end” take place? Let’s just hope it’s several years before we even have to contemplate the answer to this question.

 A Collision with A Comet

Global climate change has been a topic of discussion for some time now, and many scientists attribute rising temperatures and more volatile weather patterns to increasing solar wind activity coming from the sun.

As impending devastation manifests due to solar wind and storms, a mass migration of people will take place, with nations fighting against one another in an attempt to nab the few natural resources that we have left.

An Earthquake in California

Among the many predictions that Nostradamus made about the arrival of comets are the coming of the Hale-Bopp in 1997 and Halley in 1910. This is enough evidence for most to fear a dreaded Millennium Comet.

“Rain, blood, milk, famine, weapon, and pestilence” combine to strike fear in the hearts of many as they contemplate the arrival of this fiery visitor. Will it actually arrive or is it an unlikelihood.

Forty Years of Drought and Floods

One could easily rationalize the prediction that California would fall victim to a catastrophic earthquake, as it sits on several prominent fault lines where the Earth’s crust is in a constant state of tension and geopathic stress.

Back in the 16th Century, however, Nostradamus had no way of knowing this. His prediction of the earthquake that would devastate the “New World” may be on the horizon, given recent seismic proof.

The Rise of the Antichrist

Nostradamus is just a bringer of glad tidings, isn’t he? This seer divined nearly 500 years ago that the Earth was going to suffer a period of intermittent drought followed by floods. He likened it to drastic climate change.

One has only to look at the news these days to see that this prophecy may, in fact, be playing out right now. Widespread drought and floods are messing with agricultural production, making food and supplies difficult to acquire.

Great Harmony and Peace….For A Time

The character known as the Antichrist has been the subject of many prophecies, past, present and future. Nostradamus refers to this feared creature as “Mabus,” stating that he was coming to shake beliefs and create chaos.

While that is not a period in human history that any of us are excited to experience, many wonder if we’ve already seen this character in the likes of  Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden.

The End Of The World As We Know It

At one point in time, Nostradamus points to a period of peace and harmony that will reign supreme on planet Earth. Though it’s not readily apparent at this time, we are hopeful that something like this will come to pass.

Of course, it’s also predicted that after this magnificent period of peace would come another period of chaos, death, and destruction. Some visionaries claim that this could be the prediction of the world’s end.

According to quatrain predictions, Nostradamus predicted the year 3797 as the “end of all existence.” Varying reports about the end of times point to a time of unrest like no other, with humanity being snuffed out in fire and brimstone.

Though a bleak prediction, we still give heed to his warning based on accuracies that seem to come from an other-worldly intelligence. Regardless of how the information came to him, he still remains one of the greatest “seers” of all time.
